Doiffee Cafe @ Taman Desa Kuala Lumpur

A rather new cafe has opened in Taman Desa, and judging from the crowd there Doiffee Cafe definately has its charms and unique points to draw in coffee lovers, and diners alike. I was there the other day, being part of my #cafehoppingmalaysia project, to try out their fares. Interestingly, Doiffee Cafe don't just serve the usual coffee and cakes, they have these thai fusion dishes as well. Read on below on what we had that night.

Arriving at Doiffee just after working hours, I must say my first impression of the cafe was a good one, as I can see that a lot of thought has been put into arranging and designing the decor and furniture. It exudes warmth and every corner has its own story to tell.

We were shown around the place, and what caught my eye that night was the fact that Doiffee not only served some good coffee (Highlander beans, and  Caribbean South American-Cuban beans as I was told), with their own well-trained team of baristas, they have interesting Thai infused dishes too!

Popcorn Latte - RM11

One of the very interesting and delectable latte served by Doiffee would be their Popcorn Latte. It was a blend of their Highlander Coffee with caramel syrup, giving out a 'buttered popcorn' taste to the drink. Quite nice, albeit a tad too sweet, but I like it.

Cappuccino - RM9

Coffee at Doiffee starts from RM7 for single espresso shots to RM13 for the more elaborate Affogato and such. Shown above is their Cappuccino, a simple but nice cup of coffee for a cold rainy evening. The frothed foam milk on top of the espresso was a really nice treat.

Hot Chocolate - RM11

Doiffee's Hot Chocolate came by being very thick, one of the very chocolatey drink I've had in a while. The dark chocolate from Belgium, France and Swiss produce used really brought up the flavour of this drink. For those who want a change from coffee, I would recommend this drink.

Affogato - RM13
Affogato - RM13

Going cafe hopping for the past month or so have taught me to appreciate the art of Affogato, with different and various ways of presentation. Here at Doiffee, it was a rather simple presentation of Kapiti ice-cream from New Zealand served with the mandatory espresso coffee from France. Pour it all in and savour the bitter sweet taste I've come to love from a good cup of Affogato.

Iced Latte - RM11

If for some reason you love to have your coffee chilled and iced, then go try out Doiffee's Iced Americano and Iced Latte offerings. They have this unique ice-making machine which makes special shaved ice (alkaline based water) with properties that doesn't melt easily and stay cold longer. This makes for a good cup of cold iced coffee.

Papaya Salad - RM9

Doiffee Cafe has these unique Thai infused dishes, serving their Papaya and Mango Salad first. Both of these dishes had a refreshing feel to it, being both light and crunchy with lots of spiciness to boot, especially the Papaya Salad. A good appetiser for more good things to come.

Summer Salad - RM13

Introducing their Summer Salad, tasting as healthy and delicious as it looks. The tangy combination of green capsicum, cherry tomatoes, romaine lettuce, carrots,  pomegranate, alfalfa and kaffir lime leaves really gives a delightful twist in the mouth. With a choice of two different dressing, do try this salad if you're into a healthy diet.

Drunken Seafood Spaghetti - RM18

If you want to have some spaghetti to go with your coffee and drinks then do try out their Drunken Seafood Spaghetti, and Kerabu Chicken Spaghetti. The wine infused pasta comes loaded with fresh prawn, chunky squid and scallop. Seafood fans would love it. As for the Kerabu Chicken Spaghetti, the fresh herbs like basil, kaffir lime and mint leaves gives out a refreshing flavour to an otherwise savoury dish.

Mango Sticky Rice - RM9

For dessert, we got to try their Mango Sticky Rice, prepared with rice that is not too starchy, milk marinated with their special technique. Served with premium Japan Lily mango which was really sweet and a spoonful of rich sweetened coconut milk on the top, it was a good end to a nice meal there. Oh wait, there's more dessert to be had, as shown below.

Coffee Delight - Koi Fish Shape Jelly (RM10), Emerald Jelly (RM5 for 4pcs)

Have you ever had a giant fish shaped coffee jelly before? Well you can have that here at Doiffee, with their Coffee Delight showcasing a rather huge fish jelly. On the sides, they have these pandan flavoured cute little green jelly called Emerald Jelly. A good end to a nice night out at Doiffee Cafe, so do check them out the next time you're in the vicinity.
