Google Announced A New Service Called Drive for Education

October 12, 2014
Google has recently announced the launch of Drive for Education describing it as "an infinitely large, ultra-secure and entirely free book bag for the 21st century".This  new service will be provided for free for all Google Apps for Education users. The three interesting features that Drive for Education includes are :

1- Unlimited storage
Unlike the normal Drive which offers only 15 GB of free storage, Drive for Education has an unlimited storage capacity supporting individual files up to 5GB in size.

2- Vault
Google Apps Vault is a new service that will be rolled out at the end of the year. Google Apps Vault is an add-on for Google Apps that lets you retain, archive, search, and export your organization's email for your eDiscovery and compliance needs. Vault is entirely web-based, so there's no need to install or maintain any software.

3- Enhanced auditing
This is also another feature that is expected to be released in the few coming weeks. Enhanced Auditing will allow you to easily see the activity of each individual file in your Drive.

To this Google adds the following:
All of this comes with the same world-class security that protects all Drive users. Every file uploaded to Google Drive is encrypted, not only from your device to Google and in transit between Google data centers, but also at rest on Google servers. As always, the data that schools and students put into our systems is theirs. Classroom, which recently launched to Google Apps for Education users, makes using Drive in school even better by automatically organizing all Classroom assignments into Drive folders. And Google Apps for Education remains free to nonprofit educational institutions with no ads or ads-related scanning.
