iOS 8.1.1 Finally Released

iOS 8.1.1 Released
Apple has just released the iOS 8.1.1 updates to the public last 17 November 2014 to address several software bugs and improve the overall performance of its iPhone and iPad devices.

The public release of the iOS 8.1.1 update comes barely two weeks after Apple first seeded the iOS 8.1.1 beta to developers earlier in November. The update should be welcomed by owners of Apple’s older-generation devices since it includes “bug fixes, increased stability and performance improvements for iPad 2 and iPhone 4S.”

The software, available over-the-air or as a download via iTunes, lands with a number of performance improvements for older devices, which users have complained were significantly slower since the iOS 8 update.

The update lands two months after an iterative update, iOS 8.0.1, botched tens of thousands of iPhones and iPads, resulting in network connectivity and Touch ID to fail.

Apple said no more than 40,000 devices were affected by the problematic update. There have been no reported issues so far with iOS 8.1.1, however.

In other Apple updates of the day, OS X Yosemite also saw updates to its Wi-Fi reliability and Mail app, putting the version number at 10.10.1. The update also addressed a number of bug fixes relating to Time Machine, waking from sleep, and notifications.
Apple also issued the Apple TV 3 software update version 7.0.2, which is compatible with both of the third-generation models of its set-top digital media player.
