Microsoft's 'One Experience' - Work And Play Can Be Fun

There I was a couple days back over at Marble 8, KLCC to experience what Microsoft term as the Microsoft 'One Experience'. At the informal, simple, yet effective, Microsoft Devices Group showcased the 'One Experience' that allows users to enjoy seamless integration across multiple screens through Microsoft's devices, apps and services.

'One Experience' empowers users to have fun while interacting with any of the Microsoft devices and services, be it at work or play. During the session, we got a live session demo acted out by Bruce Howe, General Manager of Microsoft Mobile Devices Sales for Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei and his family. My, his son is really cute and dashing.

The One Experience begins at the first touch point of owning a Microsoft device, be it a Lumia device, an Xbox, or any of the Surface devices available in the market today. All these devices can and are connected to an expanding base of consumer apps and services. Bing, Skype, Internet Explorer, OneDrive, Outlook.com, Xbox games and OneNote are just a few of the experiences that are now one with the device.

Every service in itself is compelling, and like magic, they smoothly flow together to create one experience. With the power of 'One Experience', we are now able to carry out tasks and activities across multiple devices, such as the Surface Pro 3 and even Lumia devices. In the demo, we were shown that users can now start a game on their smartphone and continue the same game on a different device without worrying about the progress made or the score earned.

Additionally, services such as OneDrive will enable users to share documents across devices, where they can start editing the documents on their computer at work and continue editing it on different devices when they reach home.

Getting connected with Microsoft Devices also changes your Skype experience. With just a click, users can access Skype on the device of their choice, be it a tablet, an Xbox console at home or the PC. Pretty nifty stuff.

Bruce Howe said, "Microsoft One experience is the core element across our portfolio of devices. It not only enriches users' interaction with a device, but also improves their experience and helps bring down the learning curve when they use our family of devices'.

Overall, it was an interesting eye opening session for me, a glimpse of what Microsoft has in their pipeline for the near future. I'm pretty excited to learn more about how Microsoft 'One Experience' can be applied to my daily life soon.
