Apple can’t seem to finish off the problems hounding its latest operating system (OS), both in the mobile and desktop platforms.
It can be recalled that during the WWDC in June 2014, Apple announced its replacement for last year’s iOS 7 update. On September, Apple rolled out that brand new update for iPhone and iPad, an operating system that it dubbed iOS 8.0.
iOS 8 doesn’t deliver the massive overhaul that arrived with last year’s iOS 7 update but it still brings some important new features to the table including improved notifications, Apple Pay, changes to iMessage and the Camera app, a new keyboard, and more.
However, problems have been persisting ever since both the OS X Yosemite and iOS 8 were first released. Among problems are connectivity problems and unnecessary battery drain. The Cupertino company had already released a number of updates but said problems still persist.
iOS 8 is already at 8.1.1 and the problems are still present, with more Apple users getting more and more impatient with each passing update. In Apple support sites and other third-party sites, users are reporting that the hotspot of some phones have stopped functioning after the update.
"Same here. Hotspot not working since I upgraded to 8.0.2. Such an annoying issue. I phoned my carrier this morning and they didn't wan to get involved since 'it's a device issue since settings can't be saved.' No carrier updates either when I installed 8.0.2. So right now, no hotspot and no one wants to get involved," one user reports.
Gordon Kelly from Forbes writes, "The iOS 8 horror show doesn't look to be ending anytime soon. Just days after Apple released the vital iOS 8.1.1 update, a patch it meticulously tested with developers for over two weeks, a fresh outbreak of complaints and bug reports has occurred."
While Apple claims that the new update has fixed the issues – which it has sometimes – it had introduced others, which users have also reported.
"Safari seems smoother but now I have a bug with the copy/define not wanting to turn off… Wifi seems better but looks like it pushes the 5 band and dumps the 2 band. Mini 2 runs hot on games that it didn't before," one user writes.
