The Kipsch R6i that I received had microphone compatibility for the iPod, iPhone and iPad, essentially making it perfect for use with any iOS devices. The "i" in the model name denotes this compatibility. It comes in both black and white, but the one I was sent for review came in black complete with a nice sleek packaging. It did not take me long to 'dismantle' the packaging, excited to test out the headphones immediately.

Unboxing the Klipsch R6i

Unboxing the Klipsch R6i was an easy job. Inside the package we had the in-ear headphones itself, a pretty robust pouch to store the headphones, and 3 extra silicone eartips in differing sizes with accompanying cable clip to clip the rather long cable on your shirt to prevent it from moving around. Everything felt top notch, a sturdy quality set I have not felt in a while.

Klipsch R6i Eartips & Cables

The R6i use Klipsch’s patented oval-shaped eartips, which does provide a very good fit for most ears. I do especially like that unique set of double flanged eartips, fitting perfectly into my ear. The three button microphone is attached together with the headphone, with Klipsch’s logo. Untangling the flat'tangle free' cable was a bliss though, but it was a tad hard to the touch, meaning it might get difficult to get a comfortable spot when moving the cables around, or resting it on the table.

Sound Performance of the Klipsch R6i

So after using the Klipsch R6i In-Ear Headphones for the past couple of weeks daily with my Macbook and iPhone, I must say I'm pretty impressed with the sound quality. Now I'm a big fan of bass sounds, which is strong and powerful yet does not drown out the overall music. Here the R6i performed exceptionally well in the bass department, although it lacks the treble amount to make it perfect.

I'm not the best person to evaluate mid-range, upper-mid, and treble range of the Klipsch R6i, but for a device that does not cost an arm and a leg, it performed pretty well. I even tried listening to those high quality orchestra music, and the R6i gives me the ability to discern between each sound level. Pretty good stuff for my ears here.

The Klipsch R6i in-ear headphones might not fit everyone's music taste, as it has this rather plump bass. It does fir my type of music genre though, as I like hip-hop and techno music, with that extra bass. Do check them out if you're on a look out for a good quality headphone. I do not have the exact pricing of this earphone in Malaysia as of now, but rest assure it's below the RM500 mark.
