Apple Released iOS 8.1.3 Update

iOS 8.1.3
Blizzard or not, residents of East Coast in the United States will have one reason to celebrate this week, especially if they are iPhone and iPad users. Apple has just released a brand new version of its iOS operating system to the public.

It may not be the major update that everyone is expecting after iOS 8.2 was launched, but iOS 8.1.3 is expected to clean a few things behind the scenes. Also of note, the update requires less free storage to install, potentially making it available to many more users than previous versions.

Apple just made iOS 8.1.3 available as an over the air (OTA) update, just as many techno bloggers said would be the case. The update will also soon be available as a download through iTunes.

As for compatibility, everyone is looking at the same device list they have seen since iOS 8 was first released, of course — iOS 8.1.3 will work with the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C, iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, fifth-generation iPod touch, iPad Air 2, iPad mini 3, iPad Air, iPad mini 2, fourth-gen iPad, iPad mini, third-gen iPad, and iPad 2.

In addition to lowering the storage requirements for updates, iOS 8.1.3 fixes issues with Apple ID logins, multitasking gestures on the iPad, and bugs in Spotlight search results. It also adds configuration options for educators and standardized testing.

The security features were not revealed because Apple does not disclose, discuss, or confirm security issues until a full investigation has occurred and any necessary patches or releases are available.

The update can be downloaded via the Settings app now.
