Google Classroom which is only six months old has managed to host over 30 million assignments turned in by teachers and students. This is a big sign that the tool is being widely endorsed within the education community particularly in the States. With this increasing popularity of Google Classroom, Google released today some new updates to enhance its performance and make it more mobile friendly. The major update is the release of Google Classroom apps for both iPad and Android . Accompanied with this updates comes a bunch of new features:
1- Snap a photo
Using Google Classroom mobile app, students will be able to snap a photo and attach it to their assignments right within the assignment page.

2- Share from other apps
This allows students to attach PDFs, documents, images…etc from other apps to their assignments.”For example, when you’re in a drawing app, you can create a graphic for an assignment. When you click “share” in that app, Classroom will come up as an option, and you can attach the graphic to an assignment”.

3- Offline caching
Google Classroom mobile apps automatically save cached version of the assignments and class streams so that students and teachers can access them even when there is no internet connection.
4- Teacher assignment page
Teacher Assignment page is a new feature in Google Classroom for desktops that enables teachers to keep track of all the work and assignments they handed in to their students. They can use the page to quickly access these assignments, “rack which ones they’ve reviewed and see how many students have completed their assignments.”
5- Archiving classes
This is another new feature in Google Classroom that teachers can use to remove classes they need from the home page and make them read-only — teachers and class members can still view archived classes, but can’t make any changes or turn in assignments.
