New MacBook Air's Launch Date

MacBook
A few days ago, we featured an article from 9to5Mac describing the first details about Apple’s rumored 12-inch MacBook Air. According to the site, it is expected to offer a thinner profile, a single USB Type-C port, a brand new industrial design and more.

Lately, another report came out from DigiTimes which points to when we might expect to see it hit the market.

On 13 January 2015, the news outlet said that Quanta Computer recently started to manufacture Apple’s new 12-inch MacBook Air and that Apple is on schedule to launch it during the first quarter of this year. This means we should see it available for purchase anytime between now and the end of March. Apparently Apple has plans to replace its current 11-inch MacBook Air with the new 12-inch model, but will continue to sell the 13-inch variation.

DigiTimes said the Apple Watch is also expected to launch during that time, which is on a par with Apple’s own statements, and that Quanta will boost its workforce by 30,000 employees to boost production.

This is still very much a rumor, but Apple’s MacBook Air is certainly due for a refresh, particularly to include a Retina Display. Whether or not that actually occurs during Q1 is anyone’s guess.
