Settings > General > Accessibility > Increase Contrast > Switch on 'Reduce Transparency'.

Lower Your Screens Brightness
Open Control Center by swiping up on the Home Screen and lower your screens brightness.

Switch Off Parallax Motion Effect
Switch off the effect that moves your apps and wallpaper ever so slightly around your screen when you tilt your iPhone. When setting a wallpaper switch 'Perspective Zoom' to 'Off'.

Frequent location tracking can be a big battery drain. Switch off apps from using your location (especially when your are not using them) from: Settings > Privacy > Location Services > Then configure each application.

Switch Off Unnecessary App Notifications
While Push Notifications don't directly affect battery life, receiving a lot, could. Don't let apps annoy you by sending you unimportant notifications. Mange you apps at: Settings > Notifications.

Switch Off Background App Refresh
The feature that uses your iPhone's data connection to 'refresh' apps in the background. Switch this off by going to: Settings > General > Background App Refresh.

Set 'Fetch New Data' to Manually
For the applications that don't support Push, fetch frequently checks for updates. Set it to manually to only check when you're using the app.
Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Fetch New Data.

Switch Off 'Push'
If you don't need to know the second that you get a new email, switch off Push, to only receive email when you manually check. Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Fetch New Data > Switch 'Push' to off.

Disable Automatic Downloads
Auto downloads can be updates in the background or download music, books, or apps automatically that you purchased on another device with the same iTunes accounts. To switch this off: Settings > iTunes & App Store > Automatic Downloads.

Switch Off AirDrop When Not Using
AirDrop allows for quick transfer of files between iOS and Mac devices over Bluetooth. Switch it off when you are not using it. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to access Control Center, tap AirDrop, and switch it to off.

Disable Bluetooth
Not using Bluetooth? Then make sure it's switched off. Quick access to the setting by swiping up from the bottom of the screen and accessing Control Center, then tap the Bluetooth icon if it is highlighted in white, to switch off.

Don't Use Vibrate
Making your iPhone vibrate every time you get a call or notification can drain your battery life quicker, especially if you have ring and vibrate switched on at the same time. Switch off vibrate from: Settings > Sounds.

Disable Auto Time Zone
iPhone uses Location Services to make sure it knows what time zone you are in. You can switch this little power usage off by navigating to: Settings > General > Date & Time and switching 'Set Automatically' to off.

Don't Play Games
You can lose yourself in a game and play for long extended amounts of time, if your not careful. Some games also use a lot of processing power and can be graphic intense. A great battery drain. A good way to save battery is to not play games.

And finally...
Only use your iPhone when necessary.
