A new Qin-like success story in the making? |
Largest Market Edition
We all now how it's hard to get accurate data from the Chinese EV market, but this month we are in luck, as China Auto Web published an extensive article regarding this matter.
Sales jumped 330% regarding the same month in 2014, with the EV Share jumping to 0,38 and YTD sales already at 22.592 units, which compares pretty well to the 6,800 during the same period last year.
After January, it is the second month that China is the largest market in the world for EV's, which says something as to where plug-ins are going.
The leader is the BYD Qin, continuously improving and now nearing the 2.500 units, with 6.319 units YTD, far above the rest of the competition;
The #2 YTD is the BAIC E-Series EV, posting a tremendous result last month (1.431 units), relegating the Zotye E20 to #3.
A good result for the #4 Zotye Z100 EV (1.202 units in March), allowing it to reach #4, and a consistent performance for the Roewe 550 PHEV, on the upwards sales trend, it is now #5, up from #9 last year.
The only foreign car present here in the Tesla Model S, in #7, let's see if they can grow their sales significantly in the rest of the year.
In #8 we have the veteran the BYD e6, which has seen its sales grow despite being on sale since 2010.
The Geely-Kandi Panda EV ends the month in #10, while in #15 we have a newcomer, the locally produced BMW 530Le is joining the ranking for the first time.
By brands, BYD (34%) is solid in #1, followed in #2 by Zotye (15%) and #3 Chery, with only 11% Share.
