Choi's Don & Dak Korean Table Teppan BBQ Restaurant @ Kuchai Entrepreneur Park Old Klang Road

Fancy some honest to goodness, no frills Korean teppan barbecue meat? Choi's Don & Dak Korean Teppan BBQ Restaurant is a rather new eatery in Kuchai Entrepeneur Park serving pork (don) and chicken (dak) off their menu. It was a rather nice evening out with fellow foodies and friends where we tried out their signature fares. Check out below on what we had that evening.

The environment at Choi's Don & Dak is pretty casual and comfortable with lots of open space, important because the staff will barbecue the meat on the hot plate in front of us. I found the gas tanks below the tables to be rather interesting as it was fully clothed in these checkered cloth! The walls of the restaurant were left white, with an option for diners to leave down their creative drawings and messages after the meal.

Dak Galbi, is a popular traditional Korean dish generally prepared by stir-frying marinated chicken dices in a gochujang (chili pepper paste) based sauce, sliced cabbage, potato, scallions, onions, carrots and tteok (rice cake) together on a hot plate or pan.

Stir fried in front of us, the flavour and smell hit our nose even before we got to chomp down on the goodies. The chili pepper paste from the Dak Galbi gave out a very fragrant aroma, and tasted really good when take with the accompanying cabbages and more. This was the chicken version, with the pork version coming up next.

The serving size can be varied depending on the number of diners at the table, starting from RM19.80 per serving without any added ingredients. It's interesting to note that you could add in your favourite mushrooms, mozzarella cheese, rice cake, korean ramyun (noodles), udon, and sausages with extra $ starting from RM6 each to RM8.

Up next, we had these delicious grilled pork meat (jumuluck) stir fried to perfection using ingredients similar to dakgalbi. They've added in some extra ingredients including pumpkins an onions to give out a very pleasant aroma. I like the fact Choi's Don & Dak used pork belly, which to me is the perfect choice, being very soft and very tasty. It wasn't too spicy, but spicy enough to tingle your taste buds. Good stuff here, where I could "whallop" 2 servings myself!

Bokeumbap - Fried rice with dry layer - RM7

On their menu too, is the Fried Rice with Dry layer, which similar to dak galbi and jumuluck, it is prepared directly at our table. A popular dish from Korea, the Bokeumbap is cooked using sesame oil, flattened on the hot plate until it develops that crispy layer underneath. with the added seaweed, it's indeed an acquired taste.

If you're a fan of noodles, then choose either the wet and spicy Korean Ramyum, or the dry and sweet Korean Jjapaghetti from their ala carte menu. Essentially a spicy curry dish, I found the Korean Ramyum to be pretty good, making you sweat from the spiciness after one bowl. The Korean Jjapaghetti however was on the sweet side, where I personally prefer savoury fried noodles.

Pork cutlets! If you're still not yet full from all the other dishes at Choi's Don & Dak Korean Table Teppan BBQ Restaurant, then by all means, order their pork cutlets and stuff yourself. I like the crunchy crispy cutlets, doused in their special sauce. If you're on a look out for a good Korean BBQ meal out with good spicy DakGalbi or Jumuluck, do drop by Choi's Don & Dak and try them out for yourself!
