I reviewed The Gastro Project's Mother's Day Menu last week or so. Now I'm back with another post detailing the extensive new menu launched in April 2015 that's whipped up by Executive Chef Sazali at The Gastro Project who has vast experience in the F&B industry with notable experience at Kuala Lumpur’s premier fine-dining restaurant Cilantro.
New Menu Launch @ The Gastro Project Petaling Jaya (Caprese Salad with Arugula - RM20) |
The Gastro Project
No 25, Jalan 17/56
46400 Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia
Tel : 603-7931 6465
Established in Jan 2013, The Gastro Project is a pork-free neighbourhood restaurant in the Section 17 enclave serving Western food with an Asian twist.
Leek and Potato Soup - RM15 |
The Gastro Project is well-known among their regulars for their unique signature dishes like The TGP Pizza which combines fresh seafood on a bed of garlic pesto sauce with a chilli padi kick, The Japanese Salad with avocado, pomegranate, pine nuts and homemade white sesame dressing and the divine Molten Chocolate Pudding with caramelised chillies that subtly combines a refreshing Asian flavour with a classic dessert.
The Moroccan - RM32 |
A pizza that goes by the name The Moroccan had to be very unique. Peppered with lamb, lots of spices and herbs, and paired with pine nuts, pomegranate and mint yogurt sauce, it was a refreshing change from your usual macaroni or meat pizza. Lots of flavours, made greater by the pomegranate found all over the pizza.
Fettuccine Carbonara - RM28 |
Spaghetti Aglio Olio with Bacon - RM24 |
Pasta lovers should try out TGP's Fettuccine Carbonara for that classic creamy taste or the new Spaghetti Aglio Olio with Bacon, which enhances the already flavourful dish. I personally loved the spaghetti, mainly due to the meaty flavour from the bacon. The Fettuccine Carbonara is really creamy though, a tad rich for my tastebuds.
Pan Seared Barramundi - RM35 |
One of the new yummy mains have to be this Pan Seared Barramundi, which came with Hong Kong kailan and a side of homemade mash potatoes. Seared to perfection, I did like the taste of this dish, not too fishy, just nice.
Satisfying - Lemongrass Panna Cotta (RM15) |
Refreshing - Passion fruit flavoured creme brûlée - RM15 |
Sinful - Churros (RM15) |
To end the meal on a sweet note, we tried Chef Sazali’s signature Lemongrass Pannacotta as well as indulge in the satisfying Churros served with Caramel or Chocolate Sauce. The Gastro Project also has an extensive selection of beers, wine and a list of both signature cocktails and mocktails. All these big flavours comes at a surprisingly reasonable price, making The Gastro Project a great place to dine without burning a hole in your pocket.
