Apple iPhone of the future is expected to do away with its home screen. Don’t fret out just yet because in the next update of iOS 9, the home screen will still exist, but it won’t be what the iPhone is based around.
Instead of the usual interaction with iPhone home screen, users are expected to deal with notification panels and search tools to get to where they want to go. It will be quiet a transition, but Apple believes it will be more efficient in the long run.
According to Wired, the changes are necessary in the future because iPhones are old hat now. Everyone uses their phones too quickly to rely on the home screen. That is why users can easily access things like our camera without having to unlock anything.
The scenario that Apple wants to achieve is this: somebody has a picture of cake uploaded in Instagram. The user saw the photo and wants to taste it now. Apple iPhones will make that happen as quickly as one can blink to smell the scent of cream and sugar.
Also, if the user needs to text their friends to make plans for the weekend, they don’t have to go through the motions of clicking the "Messages" button when iPhones can take them there immediately?
Everyone will have no longer need the safety blanket of a home base. Wired adds, "Mobile life is too fast to be routed through the home screen," which is arguably true. And with this new upgrade, everyone will be able to get to where they want to go based on intuition — both theirs and their phone’s, which is a little scary, really.

For instance, if a user check their Instagram every morning after they wake up, then their iPhones will eventually catch on, and make that app available on the lock screen so they can just roll over and scroll. Basically, this newest renovation will eliminate several steps in smartphone experience.
