In iOS 9, Apple will introduce Low Power mode. This allows iOS devices to extend battery life by about three hours. This is done by disabling mail fetch, motion effects, Background App Refresh, and lower CPU use. When enabled, it is indicated by a yellow battery icon. iOS 9 will release this fall along with the next iPhone.
