Synology well known for its NAS devices throughout the years but this time at Computex 2015, they're about to show us something rather different that their traditional NAS devices.
Planned to expand into the router market, Synology unveils it's first router the RT1900ac that is equipped with features such as high-speed IEEE 802.11b/g/n/ac wireless network based on a Dual Band setup on 2.4GHz and 5GHz with 3×3 MIMO streams and up to 1.9Gbps and other basic features that can be found on a NAS.
Staff at Synology showing us the Web User Interface of the RT1900ac.
Up close view shows that the Web User Interface is not just any interface that you'll get to see on most routers - this is no web user interface, this is already an operating system! Aside of its rich featured and user friendly web user interface, the RT1900ac comes with other addons that allows you to perform downloads to a connected USB hard drive as if its a NAS, parental control, DHCP server, VPN server, Network access control features and more!
Synology has been putting a lot of effort to make their first router an ultimate product to impress the end users and we believed that this will be a catalyst to push forward the development for routers targeting the consumer market that has been staying with the very same technology and limited features for years.
