Did you know there's a Brotzeit German Bier Bar & Restaurant inside Bangsar Shopping Centre? Well I didn't, and I was delighted to be able to drop by to taste their fares recently. This is their third outlet with the first two located at Midvalley Megamall and Sunway Pyramid. A casual dining concept, I do love their environment and food. Do check out what we had that afternoon.

Signature Brotzeit decor |
Comfortable al fresco section |
On top of the various outlets in Malaysia, Brotzeit had expanded to seven countries around the world serving good authentic German cuisine and premium biers from the Paulaner family. Dining in a German restaurant usually starts with beers, and what better way to kick off a meal than going for their Paulaner Draft Bier Sampler.
Draft Bier Sampler (RM37.50) |
Experience any of Brotzeit's beers through their draft bier sampler at only RM37.50. Four flavours can be sampled, at a smaller cup, perfect for those who are unsure which to order and would like to try out new flavours. We tried the Dunkel Hefe-Weissbier, Hefe-Weissbier, Original Munchner Urtyp, and Original Munchner Dunkel beer that afternoon.
Pigs in Blanket - RM20 |
Part of Brotzeit's german bar bites menu is the Pigs in Blanket dish. My favourite dish to date, we had these delicious pork cheese sausages wrapped in bacon. I have always loved german pork sausages as they have this addictive flavour to it, coupled with crispy outer skin. Served with spicy wedges on the side, this dish is a must order when you're at Brotzeit.
Chili Con Carne - RM16 |
Gypsy Bacon Carbonara - RM17.50 |
Two dishes which looked almost alike but tastes different came from Brotzeit's Daily Lunch Special menu. First we had the Chili Con Carne which consists of pork chili con carne served with homemade German short egg pasta. I preferred the Gypsy Bacon Carbonara as it is really tasty and savoury. The carbonara of bacon and German homemade short egg pasta is served with crispy onion toppings adding to the already flavourful dish.
Foot long Currywurst - RM16.50 |
Also available from Brotzeit's daily lunch special menu, we got a taste of this really long Currywurst, a 12 inch long juicy chicken Frankfurter topped with chili curry sauce. I preferred pork sausages though but this dish is pretty good, with the chili curry sauce adding some curry flavour to an otherwise western dish. Served atop fries enough to fill more than one stomach, it's indeed a unique offering, different from your usual sausage dishes.
Honey Glazed Chicken Fillet - RM17 |
Off their bar bites menu, if you fancy some yummy Honey Glazed Chicken Fillet, then don't hesitate to order this dish. Served with fries on the side, the succulent pieces of honey glazed chicken really whet our appetite for the mains. Perfect bites to go with the many german beers available at Brotzeit.
Farmer's Plate - RM46 |
We wanted to taste everything off the menu, but with limited stomach capacity, it's a good thing Brotzeit offers the Farmer's Plate. A bit of everything good, the Farmer's plate is a medley of Gypsy belly bacon, roast pork, meatballs in honey rib sauce, pork cheese sausage and bacon with mash and sauerkraut. Love the belly bacon, sausages and meatballs, not so the roast pork probably due to its milder taste in comparison to the rest. A perfect platter of all that's good in Brotzeit, one which you should order first to sample, then order your main favourite dish.
Different flavours of Paulaner beers are available |
Sweet desserts at Brotzeit German Bier Bar & Restaurant - PROFITEROLE DUET |
Complimentary dessert of the day is served when soup or salad is ordered with any of the lunch plate off their Lunch Special Menu. The dessert we had that afternoon was the Profiterole Duet from their a la carte menu; Chocolate profiterole with vanilla ice-cream and cinnamon sugared apple fritter on vanilla sauce. Sweet ending to a good afternoon out at Brotzeit German Bier Bar & Restaurant, Bangsar Shopping Centre. Go try out their daily lunch specials, bar bites, and dinner creations soon if you're in the vicinity.
