Tesla Model S #1!!!
Some 1.800 EV's were sold last month in Germany, representing a 61% increase YoY, with the EV Share stable at 0,6%.
Unlike the german general ranking, the local EV market is always full of surprises, with constant changes and unexpected surprises, making this one of the most antecipated markets on EVS, looking at the last monthly ranking, there was a new leader (The Fifth in six months), with the Tesla Model S reaching for the first time the most desired place in the ranking, with a record 224 units, which places it in the middle in its category (Large Sport Sedans), ahead of the Panamera (177 units) and BMW 6-Series (222), but behind the Audi A7 (454 units) and Merc CLS (490). One might say that the Model S is halfway of getting its job done...
Looking elsewhere, the Kia Soul EV also had a smashing result, selling 159 units and securing it the first Top 5 appearance (In #4). Considering the supply diffieculties of several Kia importers, the questions rises: "When will the Korean manufacturer realise they have a winner here and decide to improve production accordingly?"
Pl | Model | Sales |
1 | Tesla Model S | 224 |
2 | Volkswagen Golf GTE | 186 |
3 | Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV | 185 |
4 | Kia Soul EV | 159 |
5 | Audi A3 e-Tron | 104 |
Despite ending the month in #3, with 185 units, the Mitsu Outlander PHEV managed to hold on to the Leadership, although the previous #1 (Golf GTE) has shortened the distance to six units (One less than in May), thanks to their 186 registrations, so anything can happen next month.
The Model S benefitted from its performance to rise one position to #5, while the Kia Soul EV jumped two positions to #8.
On the other hand, the Smart Fortwo ED is down another two positions to #10, last year it ended in #2, but the fact that it is still sold with the old body is making it look obsolete, selling 79 last month, instead of the 140 of a year ago...
Smart is the dissonant tone in the Mercedes stable, with the other models slowly increasing the pace and rising in the ranking, as is the case of the B-Class ED (72 units and up one position to #12) or the C350e (23 units and up to #20).
