LyricsForMusic: display song lyrics for Apple Music tracks

Apple recently introduced Apple Music in iOS 8.4 comprised of 30 million tracks, which is the company’s strong take on music streaming service. With all the great features that it provides, one thing that many users would like to have is the ability to view song lyrics. LyricForMusic is a recently released jailbreak tweak that brings this feature to the Music app and supports Apple Music as well.

LyricsForMusic lends you nearly instant access to a song’s lyrics simply by tapping on its album artwork. And this works, not only for the music that you own or for the music that you have saved locally to your device; it also works for music streamed directly from Apple Music’s 30+ million song catalog.

Once you install LyricsForMusic, a free jailbreak tweak on Cydia’s BigBoss repo, you can begin using it immediately. In fact, there are no options or settings to configure for the tweak in the stock Settings app.

To use LyricsForMusic, simply begin playing a song. Once the song is playing, invoke the now playing interface, and tap on the album artwork. Within a second, the lyrics for the currently playing song should appear on top of blurred album artwork.

LyricsForMusic is impressive—a near seamless affair. I did experience one bug with the tweak, though, and it had to do with it displaying lyrics for a previously played song. This generally happened when I let Apple Music automatically progress to the next song without manually skipping. Several others have complained about this well, and I’m hoping that this will be remedied in a future update.

LyricForMusic is available for free on Cydia’s BigBoss repo and supports iOS 8 devices. Sound off in the comments section below with your opinions on the tweak.
