“If Yan can cook, so can you!". Now do you remember the chef that utters this phrase in each of his TV shows? Yes, it's none other than Chef Martin Yan, and he was in town recently to film his new series “Taste of Malaysia with Martin Yan”.

More excitingly, after touring parts of Malaysia, he is now in Klang Valley where he will film one of the episodes at SkyPark, One City in Subang Jaya. M.I.C.E. @ One City as the hosts were delighted to show Chef Martin around their various facilities and offer the stunning skyline view at the roof top of Sky Park as the backdrop for the episode.

Chef Martin, is known the world over for his numerous TV shows and books from the start of 1982 when he shot to fame with “Yan Can Cook”. The 3,000 episode programme was shown in over 50 countries, making him one of the most popular celebrity chefs.

He is currently filming a 26-episode travel and cooking programme ‘Taste of Malaysia with Martin Yan” which will air on NTV7 on 8 September and 8TV on 6 September as well as the Asian Food Channel (AFC). The programme will be made available in English and Mandarin reaching out to an estimated 2 to 3 billion viewers and covers the various cultures and traditions of the country as well as its diverse cuisine. In this show, he will explore traditions that are emblemic of Asian culture and explore tastes and dishes that have been around for centuries.

Although Chef Martin had visited the country 18 years ago for an episode of “Yan Can Cook” which aired on AFC, this will be the first time he will be visiting the various states to explore and showcase culinary gems. He has visited Penang, Ipoh, the farms at Cameron Highlands, other districts in Perak, Kota Bharu, and Kota Kinabalu in Sabah prior to his shoot at One City.

With a combination of cooking and travelogue, this 26-part half-hour series will showcase the spectacular skyline of Malaysia as well as the city’s many cultural and historical landmarks. The show will feature many of Malaysia’s best chefs and local agricultural products as well as its diverse cuisines: home cooks and street vendors, to represent the authentic voices and faces of this island nation.
Chef Martin, a 67 year old Hong Kong-born American is not just a celebrity chef but an established culinary scholar and is the founder of Yan Can International Cooking School in the San Francisco Bay area. He also owns a chain of Yan Can Restaurants.

At One City, Chef Martin Yan will be cooking with Chef Suhaimi who specialises in Malay cuisine at SKY360⁰ Restaurant. Both chefs will be preparing Ayam Masak Lemak Kentang (Chicken cooked in coconut milk and potatoes) and Lamb Masala, exploring nuances of its origin and its popularity with Malaysians.
