How to Install Cyanogenmod 12.1 Nightlies on Xiaomi Mi3 and Mi4

The Official Cyanogenmod 12.1 Nightlies is now available for Mi 3 and Mi 4 (Cancro), and this present a cool blend of vanilla android featuring so many customization options and most especially, built on top of Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.


This custom ROM comes with all expected features of the Android OS v5.1.1 Lollipop with some other extra features being included.

Having installed the Cyanogenmod 12.1, your android phone operates with the fastest performance, great user interface and outstanding theme engine.

Today’s stroll, I would brief you guys on how to install cyanogenmod 12.1 on Xiaomi Mi3 and Mi4.

Warning: Installation of Custom ROM on your android device voids its warranty, so following the instruction is at your own risk. The guide is strictly advised for pros or technically talented users to give a try.

NB: Also try to back up your files before you proceed to the below guide to avoid loss of data. And Xiaomi Mi3 and Mi4 drivers needed, in other to progress your connection of your smartphone to PC via usb cable.

How to Install Cyanogenmod 12.1 Android 5.1.1 Lollipop on Xiaomi Mi3 and Mi4

Before proceeding to the below guide, make sure that your Xiaomi Mi3 and Mi4  has an unlocked bootloader, rooted and also have the latest custom recovery (TWRP/CWM) installed on it.

Step 1: Enable USB debugging on Xiaomi Mi3 and Mi4, simply go to settings >> Developers option, and connect your device to your computer.

Step 2: After that, download cyanogenmod 12.1 from here on your computer, and Google Apps from here, and move the downloaded files to the internal SD Card of your Xiaomi Mi3 and Mi4 device.

Step 3: Now, switch off your device and boot to recovery mode (press and hold Volume Down button + press Power button).

Step 4: Once you get to the recovery mode, simply perform a full system wipe (Wipe Data/Factory Reset, Wipe Cache Partition and then Wipe Dalvik Cache/ART cache from advanced section).

Step 5: After that, go to the recover main menu, then choose install ZIP from SD Card, then select the CM 12.1 Zip file and install immediately.

Step 6: Repeat the step 5 to also install the Google apps/

Step 7: Once the installation process is completed, simply go back main recovery menu and tap on Reboot system, and your device would be rebooted.

Once the Xiaomi Mi3 and Mi4 is successfully rebooted, then you would notice the new experience of Android 5.1.1 Lollipop on your device with much amazing features. And just in case your device got stock in welcome screen during reboot, simply switch off and boot to recovery, then wipe cache partition and reboot.
