Autumn Collection

1.945 EV's were sold last registered in Germany, with sales doubling regarding the same month last year, with the EV Share growing a little further to 0,63%, up some 0,03% regarding last August and a significant 0,19% regarding December '14, when it recorded 0,44%.

As tradition in the German EV market, there was a surprise in the leadership, with the Kia Soul EV retaining the Monthly Best Seller seat (The first to do so in 10 months), with a new personal best, by registering 380 units.

The restyled Mitsu Outlander PHEV had its best result since May, selling 208 units and placing itself in #2, followed by three domestic best sellers: Audi A3 e-Tron, BMW i3 and VW Golf GTE.

Outside the Top 5 but worthy of reference are some new models from the Autumn Collection, the VW Passat GTE registered 136 units in its first real sales month, earning it a #6, while the BMW X5 40e plug-in hybrid sold 54 units, enough for a #11 in September and outselling the default choice plug-in Luxury SUV, the Cayenne S E-Hybrid (Aka: Plug-In). By the way, this segment is now becoming crowded, besides the Cayenne Plug-In, we now have the aforementioned BMW X5, the Audi Q7 e-Tron and the Mercedes GLE500e. Oh, and there are two  more strong contenders arriving: The Volvo XC90 T8 plug-in and a certain Model X...

Looking at the YTD ranking, the Mitsu Outlander PHEV profited from the good sales month to distance itself a bit from the runner-up Golf GTE, growing the difference from only 38 units to the current 96 units, while the Kia Soul EV climbed one position to #4, displacing last year leader, the BMW i3, to a discrete #5.

Kia's EV model sales performance in the last few months is nothing short of spectacular, rising from #10 in May to #4 in just four months...

Also a sign of a very balanced market, the Soul EV, despite being only in Fourth, it is only 217 units behind the leader, if these recent performances should continue in the future, it wouldn't be surprising to finish 2015 and see a Kia as the Best Selling EV...In Germany!

Below the top spots, the Renault Zoe switched positions with the veteran Smart Fortwo ED, with Renault's hatch climbing to #9 and the tiny two seated dropping to #10.

The Passat GTE jumped three positions to #16 and it's looking for a position in this year Top 10.

Looking into the manufacturers ranking, Volkswagen is in the lead (21% share), followed by Mitsubishi and BMW, with 12%, and Audi, with 11%.
