M Cafe, a batik boutique cafe by Meesha Sukira is one cool spot to dine in. I've had the opportunity to dine there a couple of days back thanks to FoodInk, and it was good. The cafe's core business is still in manufacturing and exporting of beautiful batik clothing and fabrics, the perfect spot to dine at while you are shopping for some nice batiks. Check out what we had that afternoon.

Dine while you shop at M Cafe by Meesha Sukira |
M Cafe serves home cooked Malaysian food, since 2013. They are an ideal place for private events such as birthdays, private functions and such. The cafe seating capacity is 50 diners inside and 16 diners outside. Buffet menu is also available, but we had their ala-carte offerings that afternoon with fellow bloggers and influencers.
Sambal Fish Salad |
Here's how you prepare your Sambal Fish Salad |
Our starter dish came in the form of M Cafe's Sambal Fish Salad. Laid out on a platter, it did remind me somewhat of that Thai dish 'mieng kam'. Almost the same, yet vastly different, as real sambal fish were used. Coupled with chopped onions, peanuts and a couple of other ingredients, we were shown how to prepare it and savour it in our hand. Interestingly, I rather like the taste of the sambal fish.
Fried Chicken Salted Egg Set with rice- RM15.90 |
A closer shot of the Fried Chicken Salted Egg |
Served with rice on the side, the Fried Chicken Salted Egg is a set by itself. Helped myself to a couple of the chicken bits. The salted egg did wonders to spruce up the flavours of this dish. It would have been better if chicken thigh was used instead of the breast part, but hey, good dish to order.
Hainanese Chicken Chop - RM15.90 |
After trying out Dave's Deli's Hainanese Chicken Chop, I'm spoilt and have been forever comparing other offerings with theirs. It's nice to note that the one served by M Cafe has that exact same texture and crisp to it. The chicken itself is deep fried to a crisp, crunchy when taken, doused in sweet and sour hainanese sauce with peas. Served with fries on the side, this is a pretty good meal on its own.
Nasi Lemak Crispy Fried Chicken - RM15.90 |
Love the chicken thigh |
Another good dish from M Cafe would be their Nasi Lemak Crispy Fried Chicken. The sambal itself is more to the sweet side, rather than spicy, so more people are able to enjoy this dish. I personally love the crispy fried chicken, deep fried to perfection without being burnt, nor undercooked. The spices do make a difference in the chicken. Rice was fragrant, peanuts and anchovies crispy and all.
Mee Celup |
Nyonya Curry Laksa |
The same cannot be said of M Cafe's noodle dishes though. We had the Mee Celup and Nyonya Curry Laksa that day, with the highlights being the beef used in the Mee Celup, and the curry. I personally felt the curry wasn't spicy enough, or maybe they used mee hoon instead that time, which literally soaked up all the curry giving out a rather less than perfect experience.
Chocolate Lava & Ice Cream - RM12.90 |
We ended our meal at M Cafe by Meesha Sukira @ Bukit Damansara with their sweet Chocolate Lava & Ice Cream. The perfect dessert to indulge in, the lava didn't actually flow from the inside, rather it flowed from the top instead. The end result is still nice though. A great ending to a good afternoon out with fellow FoodInkers and friends. Do drop by M Cafe if you're in the vicinity for some really nice batiks, and food as well.
