Nexus 6P and 5X: fingerprint instead of password in Play Store purchases possible

The fingerprint authentication has finally become an integral part of the operating system with Android 6.0 marshmallow. This means that even applications of the safety function can make use next to the lock screen. So also the Play Store, which also supports authentication through biometrics in the app version 6.0. So far, however, this is only possible on the Nexus and the Nexus 6P 5X.

Of course, the most important prerequisite for fingerprint authentication is an appropriate sensor in the device. In the case of the Play Store also Android 6.0 Marshmallow imperative, because only with the latest software version the corresponding developer interfaces have been natively integrated into the OS and replace any manufacturer solutions. Consequently, this new Play Store feature limited even on the Nexus and the Nexus 6P 5X.
On said smartphones Play Store app version 6.0 can be found in the settings under "user control" an option to activate the biometric verification for purchases. The user must then confirming only the password of your own Google account Enter. Then, for purchases in Google Play only the fingerprint demanded to proceed; may alternatively be changed on a regular password of course.

It is hoped that banking apps and services like PayPal that take a model and based on the native API in Android 6.0 Marshmallow implement such a feature, PayPal provides an option so far only for the Galaxy S6 series on, based on the proprietary API of Samsung. Fingerprint sensors are increasingly finding in smartphones and already standard in the Device superclass. So also the soon to be released HTC One A9 example comply with the relevant requirements - not to mention the upcoming 2016 models entirely.
