There I was at Tropicana Golf Resort today to witness the launch of Sharp's two latest products. Sharp-Roxy Sales & Service Company (M) Sdn Bhd launched not one, but two latest tech products, the Mosquito Catcher Air Purifier and Mite Catcher. Both come at the right time, where Malaysians are most in need of, with the occurrence of the very unhealthy haze and all.

Arriving at the venue way early in the morning, I was very excited to witness the launch, especially when I heard that the air purifier is capable of catching mosquitos as well. Being a survivor of dengue, where it hit my family earlier this year putting my wife, my kid and I into the hospital, I'm very sensitive when it comes to the dangers that mosquitos (particularly aedes mosquitos) bring.

The FP-FM40L-B, which is the model name given to SHARP World's First Mosquito Catcher Air Purifier was introduced to us via a short skit, and video. A breakthrough design in the expanding SHARP's air purifier line-up. This new model would definately enhance SHARP's position as Malaysia's number one air purifier brand. I personally have been using one of their older models since 2012.

The mosquito catching mechanisms are the result of the product's design, which features LED UV light (seductive to some species), black body (attractive colour for mosquitos), narrow shape of side air inlets (designed according to mosquito's behaviour that likes to hide in narrow spaces), powerful air flow and suction of SHARP's air purifier and uniquely designed replaceable 3-layer glue sheet. All these are non-toxic materials, posing no harm to humans, and even small children.

ON top of the launch of the World's First Mosquito Catcher Air Purifier, we witnessed the introduction to the Mite Catcher as well. Dust mites feed on skin cells shed by people and are known to cause asthma and allergy. SHARP did a research and found out that in only 3 grams of dust taken from a mattress, there's a whopping 4000 dust mites inside! Malaysia, with its tropical climate proved to be the ideal place for rapid multiplication of dust mites in homes.
