WhatsApp for iPhone gets Quick Reply functionality with iOS 9.1

At long last, iOS is allowing app makers to implement text replies in notifications, a feature Apple used to reserve exclusively for its Messages app. Twitter was the first App Store app to gain this great time-saver of a feature. On iOS 9.1, WhatsApp for iPhone now supports a handy text field for quickly replying to incoming messages without leaving the app you’re currently using.

If you’ve already updated to iOS 9.1, and Quick Reply isn’t working with WhatsApp yet, follow these steps to activate it:
  1. Ensure you have exited the WhatsApp app
  2. Open the multitasking UI and force close the WhatsApp app
  3. Reopen WhatsApp
If you’re not updating to iOS 9.1 yet because you want to maintain your jailbreak, then you can use a tweak like WAQuickReply to enable the feature under earlier versions of iOS.

Apple Watch users have also found that you can now reply to WhatsApp messages from your wrist using either preset replies or by dictating a response after updating to the latest watchOS 2.0.1 software.

WhatsApp requires an iPhone with iOS 6.0 or later and a mobile phone number. The app is localized in English, Arabic, Bokmål, Norwegian, Catalan, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Slovak, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, Traditional Chinese, Turkish, Ukrainian and Vietnamese.
