Xin Xin Kee Restaurant @ Aman Puri, Kepong

This chinese restaurant, Xin Xin Kee at Aman Puri, Kepong is no stranger to folks living nearby and many come for their bak kut teh, meat dishes and seafood. When we were there the other night, the crowd literally filled up the whole restaurant. We had our fair share of lovey chinese cuisine, so do check out below on what we dined on that night.

I heard that Xin Xin Kee serves some really nice Bak Kut Teh, so it was with great interest that I waited for the dishes to be served. The ambiance there is pure food eatery, where families come in to dine and have a great meal. Here they serve the dry version as well as the usual wet bak kut teh, and I do love the dry version!

It did not take long before their signature wet Bak Kut Teh was served. Served piping hot, with lots of different parts of the meat thrown into the mix, this dish goes exceptionally well with their oil rice and the accompanying eu char kueh. Love the herbal taste of the soup, just the way I like. We get to choose from the fatty meat to the slim healthier portions of the meat, all is good.

Expectations ran high after we tried their delectable Ginger Duck dish, and Xin Xin Kee did not disappoint. Generous amounts of duck meat can be found in a dark caramelized gravy. The meat isn't too tough, which I appreciated as most of the duck meat I've tried elsewhere are very hard. It's a rather good dish though.

Rice Wine Chicken

Their Rice Wine Chicken dish is also one of the most ordered dish, coming in a bowl filled with lots of healthy properties, gingers and of course yellow wine infused soup. Inside we had pieces of really tender chicken, going really well with the flavours from the soup. It doesn't get too overbearing, maintaining that savoury taste with a tinge of sweetness from the wine. Pretty good stuff.

My favourite dish for the evening would definately be their Dry Bak Kut Teh. Delicious pork belly were used, together with lady's fingers and dried chili, it makes for a really aromatic and tasty dish. Love how the black sauce enhances an already flavourful dish. I need more of these.

There's a nice variation to the mostly meat menu, where you could find steamed fish, and the rather unique Melaka Nyonya Steamed Fish dish. The pineapples, pepper flakes, and parsley, on top of the very thick and tasty nyonya curry gravy makes all the difference. Another good seafood dish at Xin Xin Kee.

It was a great meal out with fellow foodies, bloggers and friends over at Xin Xin Kee Restaurant @ Aman Puri, Kepong. After that hearty meal, I understand then why they keep pulling in hordes of diners everyday. Do drop by the next time you're in Kepong area, for some really nice and meaty chinese cuisine.
