Promising career in Iceland for the funky Kia Soul EV |
Nissan Leaf Losing Ground Edition
The Icelandic EV market has recorded 39 new units last month, exacly the same amount registered twelve months ago, with the current EV Share (2,67%) slightly below last year result (2,71%), plug-in sales are up 67% this year, counting 333 units, but then again, the regular market is growing even faster, so that's why the small decrease in share.
Looking at the models ranking, Nissan still leads the pack (Something it has been doing since 2013), but it has been losing sales (Twelve months ago it had accumulated 98 units) and market share, 2014 ended with 54% share, last June it only had 33% and now that number has shrunk to 25%, with the Second Place VW e-Golf now only 13 units (And 4% share) behind the japanese, the Leaf has to keep an eye on VW's hatch to avoid any last minute surprise and spoil the announced treble at the end of the year...
In Third we have the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, but the Kia Soul EV has been raking up sales as of lately (Maybe the local Kia importer became a bit more more bullish?), so it might still have a shot at reaching the last place of the podium.
Looking at the manufacturers ranking, it seems Volkswagen (32%) this year will inherit Nissan's (27%) throne, thanks mostly to Golf plug-in varieties, with the Third Place remaining in the good hands of Mitsubishi (12%).
