Another two models going for the Posh SUV Best Seller title

2013 All Over Again - Heavy Weights Edition

The 3.712 new EV's registered last month represent almost four times as much sales as in October '14, representing the third highest sales month only behind the historic months of November (5.546) and December '13 (9.311).

This surge in sales has a lot to do with fiscal changes happening in January 1st, something that previously originated the sales rush of late 2013, so something along the lines of those historic months are bound to happen in the next two months.

This sales rush pulled the EV Share further North, it is now at a record 6.56%, with the market headed not only to beat the 2013 result (23.151 units), but probably to reach the 25.000 30.000 units barrier. Not bad, eh?

Looking at last month models ranking, the Golf GTE recovered the #1 spot, followed by the Outlander PHEV, that thanks to 644 units, had its best result since June '14.

In Third we have a surprise, the Volkswagen Passat GTE landed with a bang, registering 595 units in its first sales month, being the best landing month for a single model since the Outlander PHEV arrinved in October '13 (650 units then).

Fourth is the Volvo V60 Plug-In, feeling something of a resurgence and registering its best result in 20(!) months, with 428 units.

Looking at the YTD ranking, lots of changes and newcomers below the Top 5, the Passat GTE goes straight to #8, while the Volvo XC90 Plug-In surges to #12, and two new competitors appear in the suddenly crowded posh SUV segment: The BMW X5 Plug-in registers a promising 66 units (Outselling the other i sub-brand relatives), while the Mercedes GLE500e lands with only three units to show.

The Renault Kangoo ZE climbs to #22 while Opel clears the Ampera stock, by registering the remaining 12 units in stock.

Looking at the manufacturers ranking, Volkswagen leads, with 26% share, followed by Mitsubishi (19%) and Audi (13%).
