A growing number of iPhone and iPad users are taking to Apple’s Support Communities forums to complain about slow or unreliable Touch ID performance after applying Apple’s iOS 9.1 software update to their devices.
Users from Apple's support Communities say:
If you are suffering from this issue, then, you can only wait for Apple to fix it at this point. And if you’re yet to update to iOS 9.1, maybe this will make you think twice for the time being.
Users from Apple's support Communities say:
“My Touch ID has become very slow or either doesn’t work after several attempts, and I need to input my passcode,” reports one iPhone 6s owner. Another iPhone 6 owner adds, “The Touch ID was working normally before installing IOS 9.1, then after the restart and after entering low power mode, it stopped working.”
“Rebooting the phone fixes the problem temporarily, but Touch ID stopped working in a day or so,” said a poster. “Haven’t found a permanent fix yet.”The good news is this issue appears to be affecting only a very small number of people. The bad news is it is unclear what causes it — it appears to be happening totally at random — and there is no easy fix at this point. Users cannot even restore to earlier versions of iOS 9, because Apple has stop signing them.
