There are Over 100 Million iPhones in Use in the USA [Report]

Apple manages to sell a lot of iPhones every year, every quarter, and so perhaps it shouldn’t come as a surprise that there are a lot of them in the United States now. According to data put together by the Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP), there is now an estimated more than 100 million active iPhones in the United States in use. The report indicates that by the end of September 2015, there were 101 million active iPhones in the United States.

“The analysis shows the continued strength of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, now one year old,” said Mike Levin, Partner and Co-Founder of CIRP. “We estimate a combined 60 million of these flagship phones sold in the US from the September 2014 launch through September 30, 2015. For comparison, the iPhone 5S sold about 28 million in the same period in 2013-2014. With only a weekend of availability in the quarter, we estimate 4 million of the new iPhone 6s and 6s Plus sold in the US.”

Breaking it down, the estimates show that upwards of 58 million of active iPhones in the United States are iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus units. There are already four million iPhone 6s and/or iPhone 6s Plus units in the U.S., based on the data. The data also seems to show that the 4.7-inch iPhone 6/6s model is the most adopted.
Interestingly enough, the data also shows that while Apple has certainly hit a milestone in the U.S., things are beginning to taper off as the market has matured. The data shows that over the course of eight years, the iPhone installed based grew by an average of 8%.
