Update Galaxy S3 to Android 6.0 Marshmallow [CyanogenMod 13 ROM]

CyanogenMod 13 ROM now outed for Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphone. However, the ROM comes with all expected features of Android 6.0 Marshmallow which includes improved battery saver mode, secured lock screen, and improved Google Now command, Notification and settings quick navigation, lovely home screen and many more. CM13 ROM also comes with additional features and smartphone can be tweaked to your taste with the help of the ROM.


The CyanogenMod 13 is only available for the international variant of the Galaxy S3 which comes with model number GT-i9300, so installing it on other variants might brick your device. However, the ROM hasn’t been made official but source code already given to developers. Thanks to the custom AOSP ROMS developers.

The boots (without SD card), touchscreen, WiFi, rotation, USB OTG, camera, sound, screenshots and Bluetooth are working perfectly, but some bugs likescreen color RIL and SD card (bootloop) require fixes.

Before you proceed to installing this ROM, first install Philz Touch Recovery on your Galaxy S3, boot device to recovery mode and then flash the ROM. Flashing is very easy, just follow the guide below and that’s it.

How to Install CyanogenMod 13 ROM on Galaxy S3

Step 1: Enable USB debugging on Galaxy S3, simply go to settings >> Developers option, and connect your device to your computer.

Step 2: After that, download cyanogenmod 13 ROM from here (Source) on your computer, and Google Apps from here and move the downloaded files to the internal storage of your Galaxy S3 device.

Step 3: Now, switch off your device and boot to recovery mode (press and hold Volume Down button + press Power button).

Step 4: Once you get to the recovery mode, simply perform a full system wipe (Wipe Data/Factory Reset, Wipe Cache Partition and then Wipe Dalvik Cache/ART cache from advanced section).

Step 5: After that, go to the recover main menu, then choose install, then select the CM 13 Zip file and flash immediately.

Step 6: Repeat the step 5 to also install the Google apps/

Step 7: Once the installation process is completed, simply go back main recovery menu and tap on Reboot system, and your device would be rebooted.

Once your Samsung Galaxy S3 is successfully rebooted, then you will begin to experience Android 6.0 Marshmallow on your device with much amazing features. And just in case your device got stock in welcome screen during reboot, simply switch off and boot to recovery, then wipe cache partition and reboot.
