This month's series of New EdTech Tools and Apps for Teachers features some interesting tools to use in your teaching. Some of the things you can do with these applications include:
create whiteboard style animated videos, memorize vocabulary items using flashcards, learn programming through hands-on activities, create soundtracks fro stories, take beautiful handwritten notes and annotate PDF documents, explore human anatomy in 3D and many more.
1- Explee
This is a web application that allows you to create whiteboard style animated videos. It provides over 6000 animations to illustrate your videos and engage your audience. While Explee is a premium tool but it does offer a 14 day free trial.
2- Everword- Evernote Flashcards
‘This is a revolutionary flashcard app fully synchronized with your Evernote database account enabling you to memorize important information (such as words, phases or figures).’
3- The Everything Machine by Tinybop
In this award-winning app, kids use a simple visual programming language to combine your device’s camera, microphone, speakers, gyroscope, and screen to make a light, a stop-motion camera, a kaleidoscope, a voice disguiser, a cookie thief catcher, or anything else you can think of!
4- Action Story
‘Action Story is a free interactive app to improve English comprehension. It allows users to choose the path the character takes. They can create small acts in a story based on clues prompted in the app. They would learn how to structure sentences and meaning of words by indulging in an interactive-story’.
5- Booktrack Classroom
‘Booktrack Classroom allows students to read eBooks with a movie-style soundtrack, or to create their own soundtrack for any story, essay or other text. Students can also create and publish their own Booktracks, reading them on the web or on mobile phones and tablets.’
6- 3D Solar System Web
‘This is a 3D solar system simulation application, which gives you the approximate location of the planets in the solar system at different time, and some information about each one of them. This application uses HTML5 and WebGL.’
7- Psykopaint
‘Psykopaint is an amazing photo painting app where you pick one of the 6 brushes provided and start painting while the colors are selected automatically for you. Psykopaint offers some unique and rather unusual results. Unlike photo-editing softwares based on filters, it works by sampling colors of the original photo to create a new image.’
8- GoodNotes 4
