“It’s just something you pull from your own emotions, from a happy time,” Drake explained to New York Times’ T Magazine. “To get the real definition of Fring’s, you need to come to the restaurant. Ask a chef, ask a server, and everyone’s definition will be something different.”
According to the story, Fring was also Drake’s rumored nickname for Rihanna, though Drizzy doesn’t really speak on that. Instead, he attributes it to Jamaican patois and slang. “We’d say, ’Last night, we were so fringed,'” he explained.
Drake’s business partner Angelo Ferraro and chef Susur Lee’s family members opened the restaurant in September. Serena Williams and Jaden Smith were among the stars who attended their opening night. Not bad, right?
While Drizzy might not be an owner, he doesn’t mind bringing light to the establishment.
“Anything I can do to bring more light to the city,” he added, “I’m all in.”
