Facebook rolls out photo and video Collages; Live Video coming soon to everyone

Facebook today announced that its main iPhone client in the App Store has been updated with two new features: Live Video and Collages.

On December 3, Facebook announced Collage, a new feature that allows Facebook iOS users to bring together their photos, and videos, in a new way to “tell the whole story.” This new feature will knit together photos and videos that were taken together, at the same spot, and then display them in a moving, scrolling collage.

Users can find the new collages just by selecting the Photo option, to which the app will bring up images collected from the Camera Roll and put them together in a pre-made collage. That collage can be edited by removing or adding images, and users can even re-arrange the content therein to better present the story they want to tell.

Finally, Facebook has also confirmed that it will be bringing Live Video, a feature it has had available for awhile now for some celebrities, to everyone at some point in the near future. Until then, Facebook is trying it out in small batches, so you could very well have the feature in your iOS app now. It’s a small test, though, and the public rollout is still planned for the future.
“Today we’re beginning to test the ability for people to share live video on Facebook, starting with a small percentage of people in the US on iPhones. Live lets you show the people you care about what you’re seeing in real time — whether you’re visiting a new place, cooking your favorite recipe, or just want to share some thoughts. No matter where you are, Live lets you bring your friends and family right next to you to experience what’s happening together.”
