Recently, Google outed Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update for their Nexus 9 device, and I already published an article on how to update Nexus 9 to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. However, once you’ve updated to the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow and you rooted your device on Android 6.0 Marshmallow before updating, you’ll definitely loss root access, so it’s important you flash custom recovery image and re-root.
Installation of TWRP Recovery is very much important, in the sense that, custom ROMS, firmware, and any flash-able can be easily installed on your device.
Everyone know the benefits of rooting, if you’re ignorant about the benefits, with root access, you can install custom roms, tweak the dark corners of your device, reduce battery drainage on your device, improve RAM management and lot more.
To start with, I advise you download HTC USB driver on your computer, to allow easy communication process between your computer and your device. Also enable USB debugging of your Nexus 9 device. To enable, simply go to developers option under Settings, and enable. If the developers option isn’t visible on your Google Nexus 9 device, simply go to About Phone under settings, scroll down to build number and tap up to 7 or 8 times, till it tells you that “You’re now a developer”, then go back and enable USB debugging from developers option. Also enable OEM unlock on developers option.
Now that you’ve setup the mains, you can now proceed to the Twrp recovery installation process before rooting.
1. Firstly, download ADB and fastboot file from here, and then extract the folder to the desktop screen of your computer.
3. After that, extract the “recovery.img” file to the ADB and fastboot folder on your desktop screen.
4. Once you’ve transferred the file, then on the ADB and fastboot folder, on a blank space in the folder, press Shift key + Right click, then select “Open command prompt”.
5. Now, connect your Google Nexus 9 to your computer, and make sure it’s detected, and then boot your device to fastboot mode, simply press and hold the Volume Down and Power buttons together, till screen changes.
6. After that, on your computer, input the below command.
fastboot flash recovery twrp-2.8.7.0-flounder.img
