MÜLLER GOAL SEALS BAYERN'S 15TH LEAGUE WIN

FC Bayern München increased their lead at the top of the Bundesliga table on matchday 17 following a 1-0 victory at Hannover 96 thanks to World Champion Thomas Müller's first-half penalty. At the same time, FC Bayern's closest pursuers Borussia Dortmund suffered a 2-1 defeat at 1. FC Köln despite having led for the majority of the match. Eintracht Frankfurt celebrated a crucial 2-1 victory over SV Werder Bremen, while FC Augsburg secured a 1-0 win at Hamburger SV. Bayer 04 Leverkusen managed to win 1-0 win away to Ingolstadt and temporarily climb into fourth place.
The visitors from Bavaria dominated Hannover for most of the game, but struggled to find the breakthrough. Robert Lewandowski struck the woodwork on the half-hour mark, before Thomas Müller converted a penalty awarded for handball to give Bayern the three points and extend their lead on BVB to eight points.

Augsburg pull away from relegation zone

FC Augsburg's 1-0 victory in Hamburg saw them establish a five point cushion between them and the relegation zone. The winning goal was scored by Jan Moravek after 76 minutes.
Bayer 04 Leverkusen were able to rely on the in-form Javier Hernandez. The Mexican striker scored the only goal in their away game which saw them take home all three points. The new signing has now scored 19 goals in 22 competitive match appearances.
