Nintendo smartphone game is a chat with in-app purchases

With "Mitomo" brings Nintendo in 2016 its first smartphone game out. In fact, the app is more like a chat with mini-games. Also in-app purchases, there will be.

Long time fans had a smartphone game of Nintendo wait. While there are already a number of clones of "Super Mario" and Co. for Android and iOS, the originals continue to hold back. In March 2016 which should however change. Then, the first smart phone game of the Japanese appear namely "Mitomo". But there's a catch, because as CEO Isao Moriyasu from developer DeNA describes the title in the Wall Street Journal, it does not involves a game.

A chat app, which is disguised as a game
Rather, the impression that prevailed in October after the announcement of "Mitomo" strengthened. Accordingly, it will be at the supposed Nintendo game for smartphones rather an app for chatting. In this chat participants should find with the help of avatars, called Miis, new friends. The avatars will also be active when the user does not even chats and autonomously establish contact with other avatars. In this way, Nintendo and DeNA want to help users find new friends.

In-app purchases and Facebook integration?
For this to work, the app could be linked, for example, with the friends list from Facebook. Yet this was only a mind game. Also Mii games could be included in "Mitomo". In addition to coming several in-app purchases. So users should for example have the option to buy new clothes for real money for their Mii. The app itself is offered for free, however.

Perfect for Nintendo fans?
Although the concept might appear sympathetic at first glance, Isao Moriyasu can hardly hide the fact that the idea sounds more like a classic chat app than for a real Nintendo game. Thus, once it remains doubtful whether "Miitomo" will be really what Nintendo fans really want from a smartphone game.
