Apple's 4-inch iPhone likely to be called iPhone 5se

Apple is reportedly working on a 4-inch iPhone and we have been hearing a lot of rumor of this device. The 4-inch iPhone is said to resemble an upgraded iPhone 5s and is expected to release in March this year.

Now 9to5Mac reports that Apple's iPhone 4-inch is internally codenamed 'N69' and is likely to be called iPhone 5se and is slated for a March release. As per 9to5Mac sources, the suffix "se" is described in two ways 'special edition' variant of the vintage 4-inch iphone and as an 'enhanced' version of the iPhone 5s.

According to the report, the iPhone 5se will have the same design as the iPhone 5s, but will have upgraded hardware, internals, software and high end features.

The iPhone 5se is said to sport curved edges similar to iPhone 6s / 6s Plus, and will have Live Photos, a feature that captures 1.5 seconds of video before and after an image is snapped to create 3 second GIF-like clip that makes it look like the photograph has come alive

It will be equipped with Apple's A8 A8 SoC and M8 motion co-processor as seen on the iPhone 6, however it will not feature the 3D touch functionality. For photography the iPhone 5se will have an 8-megapixel iSight (rear camera), and a 1.2-megapixel FaceTime (front-facing camera). The camera will also support larger panorama and auto-focus to record video.

As for connectivity, the iPhone 5se will support 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, and VoLTE, as seen on the iPhone 6s. It will also support NFC to facilitate Apple Pay and also have Barometer for tracking elevation in the Health app.

The iPhone 5se will hit the market in Silver, Space Gray and Rose Gold color variants same as the iPhone 6s. The pricing is expected to be similar to the iPhone 5s. The report also mentions that the iPhone 5s is likely to be discontinued.
