I was at
Cafe Malaysia's inaugural trade and consumer event in Malaysia dedicated to the café and teahouse communities last year, and here I am again for the second one. Café Malaysia which enjoyed a successful inaugural showing just eight months ago in May 2015, opened its doors yesterday to a
bigger and better show at MATRADE Exhibition and Convention Centre. The organisers are expecting some 10,000 visitors who will be treated to a showcase by 102 exhibitors from 13 countries and a feast for the senses.

It serves as a dynamic B2B platform for key decision makers to source for their café needs and explore new collaborations and opportunities in a country where the number of specialty coffee drinkers has grown over the years. This growth is mirrored by a significant increase in the number of cafés in Malaysia, especially in Kuala Lumpur.

One of the biggest crowd magnet will be the championships. Café Malaysia 2016 will host three national championships Malaysia Brewer’s Cup (MBrC) 2016, Malaysia Latte Art Championship (MLAC) 2016 and Malaysia Barista Championship (MBC) 2016. Malaysia’s top baristas will brew their way to represent Malaysia at the World Brewer’s Cup (WBrC) 2016, the World Barista Championship 2016 to be held in Dublin, Ireland, and the World Latte Art Championship 2016 to be held in Shanghai, China. Visitors to the event will be awed by how the masters brew a perfect cup of coffee, distinguish a variety of coffee and decorate their latte.
