In this week’s Apps Gone Free series, we are sharing with you four good apps you might want to try on your iPad. These apps are on sale today at least in the Canadian and American iTunes App Stores. Our favourite app in this collection is Visual Anatomy which we have reviewed in multiple posts in the past. Visual Anatomy is especially helpful for science teachers and students. It provides over 500 high resolution anatomy images with 3D rotational models to assist students in their learning of the human body. We have also included TableDrum which we think might be of some help to music teachers. Enjoy
1- Visual Anatomy
“Visual Anatomy is an interactive reference, and education tool. It contains more than 500 high-resolution images (plus 141 single muscle images) and more than 850 feature points which can be interactively selected. Each feature has its own label and short description. The app also has search function which can be used as searching the labels of all feature points. In addition, 6 quizzes with 150 multi-choice questions also are included. It also has all Gray's anatomy images for a quick review.”
2- Halftone
“Halftone turns your photos into unique, vintage comics that friends and family will love! More than a simple “photo filter” app, Halftone makes it easy to add paper styles, captions, speech balloons, graphic stamps, and fonts (including built-in comic fonts). Your final image can be sent via e-mail, uploaded directly to Facebook, Twitter, and Flickr, shared with apps like Instagram, Camera+, and Color Splash, printed, and more.”
3- DayGram
“Daygram is a simple and intuitive diary app. It's designed to record experiences and thoughts throughout a day. One Line A Day.…Daygram is a great diary tool, encouraging you to keep track of your thoughts using a simple tap-based UI. Not only is it great practice to write every day, but it’s also possible to gain some fascinating insights into your life just by virtue of writing down your thought.”
4- TableDrum
“TableDrum is the Augmented Audio application that allows you to sync the sound of any real object and trigger a real time response of high quality drum sounds. You can now build your own drumset from practically anything. Drum applications where users tap the screen are things of the past. This is the future!”
