Maintaining focus in a world permeated with all kinds of digital distractions becomes a real challenge. Ironically enough, this same technology that distracts us can be used to fight off distraction. There are now a wide variety of apps and tools that you can use to help you better control how you interact and use the Internet and subsequently enhance your focus.  Below are some very good examples of tools to use to subvert the distractiveness of the net. This is a Chrome extension ( also available for Safari and Firefox) that increases your productivity by limiting the amount of time that you can spend on time-wasting websites.

Freedom is the wonderful app for Windows and Mac computers that locks you away from the 'net. Turn Freedom on, tell Freedom how long you'd like to focus, and you're offline and able to work. If you need to cheat and get back online, you can reboot.
