China based electronics company Haier has announced a new premium smartwatch- the Haier Watch at MWC 2016 in Barcelona. It is built with a 316L stainless steel 42mm casing, that gives it a premium look, and comes in gold, silver and black watch strap option.
The Haier Watch is a full metal smartwatch with a circular dial having a diameter of 1.4-inches and a resoolution of 400 x 400 pixels, on the display. It runs a forked version of Android Wear based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, in addition to proprietary software features by Haier. The smartwatch packs 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage, and supports Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity.
It also works as a fitness companion as it includes a heart rate monitor and inbuilt pedometer to measure steps and calories burned. It is IP56 rated for dust and water resistance, and has a built-in microphone and speaker, which would allows users to make and receive calls for the smartwatch, with a connection established with the smartphone.
The smartwatch also doubles up as a music player, enabling music being played via speaker or Bluetooth headset. There is also a 'Find my Phone' function, which can help you find your phone, when out of sight.
The Haier Watch is priced at €200 (Rs. 15,000) and is due for April release.
