Beyonce Just Released A New Song And Video — This Is Not A Drill

Beyonce sure knows how to grab the internet’s attention. The day before she’s set to perform with Coldplay during the Super Bowl halftime show, Bey has released a new track that’s sure to get a lot of people talking.
The reigning queen of the surprise drop has bestowed upon us “Formation,” a song whose lyrics are teeming with notions of empowerment and pride in her heritage as a black American with roots in Alabama and Louisiana.

For the track, Beyonce sampled two Louisiana greats — New Orleans artist Big Freedia and posthumously, social media star Messy Mya.

(Did we mention Blue Ivy is in the video, too?)
This comes less than a week after Queen B blessed our eye sockets as a Bollywood star guesting on the Coldplay track “Hymn for the Weekend.” The single is available to stream and download for free exclusively through Tidal (of course.)

Beyonce, because she is Beyonce, not only released the song and video as a total surprise, but also created a line of merchandise to go along with it, including clothing, tote bags, and this iPhone case which we will be buying immediately:
