CINDY CRAWFORD ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT FROM MODELING

OG supermodel Cindy Crawford went on a whirlwind tour last fall to promote her memoir, "Becoming by Cindy Crawford," visiting book signings, late-night talk shows, chatting with Fern Mallis at the 92nd Street Y and countless publications — all while cross-promoting her skin-care line Meaningful Beauty. She followed it up with an appearance in Balmain's epic spring 2016 campaign alongside fellow supers Naomi Campbell and Claudia Schiffer. It seemed like Crawford was primed to enter a whole new chapter of her career as she turns 50 on February 20.

But as it turns out, the Balmain shoot might be her last. In a new interview with United Airlines' Hemispheres magazine, Crawford says publishing the book helped her to realize she has accomplished everything she would ever want to as a model.

"I feel like I'm allowing that to have been great, and I'm celebrating it. And I’m sure I'll have my picture taken for 10 more years, but not as a model anymore. And that's OK. I've done it. I’ve worked with all these incredible photographers. What else do I need to do? I can't keep reinventing myself. I shouldn't have to keep proving myself. I don't want to."
Well there you have it, folks. We'll leave you with this clip of a young Crawford introducing the supermodel phenomenon in 1992. "I love my life, I have a great life, but I think I'd have a great life no matter what I did," she says in the video. "It's a state of mind, you choose to make your life great." Twenty-five years later, she still thinks that way.
