The LG G5 is official and accompanying the smartphone are few friends collectively known as 'LG G5 and friends'. These include a 360 VR headset, 360 CAM, Rolling Bot, Smart Controller including the modules LG CAM Plus and Hi-Fi Plus. The smart accessories and modules connect to the LG G5 via LG Friends Manager app, which quickly connects with the nearby LG friends.
The LG CAM Plus and Hi-Fi Plus are modular components that you can swap with the LG G5's battery. It's worth noting that, as the process requires you to remove the LG G5's battery, to swap the components, so you will need restart the LG G5.
The CAM Plus can be attached through the battery slot for a comfortable grip and convenient control of a DSLR. It comes with physical buttons for power, shutter, record and zoom and has features like Auto Focus and exposure lock. It also packs an additional battery capacity of 1200mAh.
The Hi-Fi Plus is a portable audio player developed in collaboration with B&O Play. It supports 32-bit 384KHz HD audio playback, and can be used with LG G5 or a seperate digital audio chip (DAC) that connects to any PC or smartphone.
The 360 VR headset connects to to the LG G5's USB Type-C port via a dedicated cable. It offers an immersive viewing experience as if watching an 130-inch TV from 2 meters away. It's also foldable so that users can easily carry it with themselves and watch VR content anytime, anywhere.
The 360 CAM is a compact 360-degree angle camera equipped with two 13-megapixel 200-degree wide angle camera, 4G internal storage (w/ microSD card slot) and a built-in 1200mAh battery. It offers 2K video and 5.1 surround channel recording on three microphones to create high quality 360-degree content. Images taken from the 360 CAm can be uploaded to Google Street View and YouTube 360.
LG Rolling Bot is a companion device that rolls like a ball while capturing images and videos with its embedded 8-megapixel camera a microphone, a speaker, some LEDs, and a microSD card slot if you want to save captured videos and photos. It can also be used as a home monitoring system or and has a infra-red emitter to use it as a remote control for compatible home appliances. It can also take care of your pet, as you can use it to watch and play with your dog or cat. It can be recharged via a regular USB charger.
The Smart Control has been launched in collaboration with Parrot. It allows you to dock the LG G5 into the controller of the drone. Once docked you are connected to the drone and you can control the drone and check video stream from the drone through the LG G5 in real time.
LG's modular components and smart accessories will be available in April.
