Google announced today that it has finally decided to close Picasa service and focus on Google Photos. It is clear that this move is in the interest of Google, which will now focus its efforts towards one service instead of concentrating their efforts on two services has the same purpose. So far, Google has not said exactly when it will close Picasa, but said that this process will take several months.
For albums contained within Picasa Web Albums, users can access them easily from Google Photos. Google is also working to find a solution for users who do not want to use Google Photos, through creation of a special place for photos and albums contained within Picasa service, where users will be able to see the photos, downloaded it, and deleted it. At the moment, it will not do anything of these steps, but will be starting from the date of 1 / May.
For Picasa on personal computers, Google announced that it would stop support for it from the date of 15 March. Picasa will remain effective and can be used as an open multimedia files, however, and after this date, it will not get any update from Google.
