iPhone 5se and iPad Air 3 said to go on sale March 18

Apple is planning to launch the iPhone 5se and iPad Air 3 on Friday, March 18th, reports 9to5Mac. Citing sources familiar with the matter, the outlet claims the launch of the long-rumored 4-inch iPhone and third-gen iPad Air will follow their unveiling at an event on Tuesday, March 15th.

This time around, Apple is said to be not planning to offer pre-orders for the devices. That’s a particularly different strategy than what Apple has followed in the past. Typically, like with iPhones, the announcement happens a couple of weeks prior to the release date, and pre-orders open before that launch date rolls around. The same has been the case for iPads in the past as well.

The sources say that production for the iPhone 5se began back sometime in January.

As it stands right now, the 4-inch iPhone 5se is said to boast an A9 processor under the hood, and feature a variety of Apple’s most talked-about features, including Touch ID, Apple Pay support, NFC, the ability to take Live Photos, and voice-activated Siri, among other new features. The iPad Air 3, meanwhile, is said to feature a Smart Connector and Apple Pencil support, just like the iPad Pro, and even boast four speakers.
