Obi Worldphone, backed by John Scully has introduced the MV1 smartphone at MWC 2016 in Barcelona. The MV1 sports a unique design with the brand's signature floating display and rounded corners, and has been co-designed by San Francisco-based product studio Ammunition. The phone rocks a matte-finished polycarbonate body, with an anti-fade UV coating.
The Obi Worldphone MV2 features 5-inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) in-cell display protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and an anti-fingerprint oleophobic coating. Inside there is a 1.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 212 processor with Adreno 306 GPU, 1GB/2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage, further expandable via microSD card up to 64GB.
The MV1 sports 8-megapixel auto-focus OV8665 sensor camera with an LED flash, f/2.2 aperture and 1080p video recording capabilities. The selfie camera is 2-megapixel. The Dual SIM (micro + nano) phone runs Cyanogen OS 12.1.1 based on Android 5.1 Lollipop and supports 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi direct, Bluetooth v4.1, GPS with A-GPS, and GLONASS connectivity. It is fueled by 2500mAh battery.
The Obi Worldphone MV1 is priced at $139 (Rs. 9,350) for the 1GB RAM variant, while the 2GB RAM version costs $149 (Rs. 10,000). It will be available in Asia and Africa starting this month, followed by Latin America and Europe in March 2016.
