Samsung has also officially announced the Galaxy S7 edge, alongside the Galaxy S7 at its Galaxy Unpacked event 2016 in Barcelona. The Galaxy S7 edge is a curved screen variant of Galaxy S7, and except for the curved screen, larger display and battery, the specs are similar as the Galaxy S7.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 edge sports a 5.5-inch Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) Super AMOLED display. The Edge screen gets more functionality, the Tasks edge is now wider and offers one-tap access to apps, functions and news. You can also quickly access your contacts and calendar. It also has an Always On Display mode that will show you basic information like time, notifications, calendar events when the phone is asleep.
The Galaxy S7 edge is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 820 processor / octa-core Exynos 8 Octa 8890 processor depending on the market and comes with 4GB RAM and 32GB/64GB internal storage, further expandable up to 200GB via microSD card. It runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow and Hybrid Dual SIM slot, that is capable of being used with a single SIM card with microSD or a dual SIM.
For photography, the Galaxy S7 sports a 12-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, f/1.7 aperture and smart OIS, and 5-megapixel front facing camera. The Dual Pixel camera promises brighter and sharper images in low light.
For connectivity there support for 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, GPS with GLONASS, USB 2.0 and NFC. Other features include Heart rate sensor, Fingerprint sensor, Barometer, IP68 rating for water and dust resistance and and internal cooling system that keeps the device from overheating. It is fueled by 3600mAh battery that supports Fast Charging technology, on both wired and wireless (WPC and PMA) charging.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 edge comes in Black Onyx, Gold Platinum, White Pearl and Silver Titanium colors and will be available starting mid-March 2016.
